Speech at the Seminar ”Conference on National Dialogue and Mediation Processes”, Helsinki, 31.3.2014

Excellencies, Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a pleasure for me to open this high-level conference on the topical issue of national dialogues and mediation. Mediation is one of the great priorities in our foreign policy. I am delighted to welcome so many advocates and friends of mediation, including national dialogues, from different corners of the world here in Helsinki. Your collective contribution will certainly make this conference a success.

I would like to extend my thanks to the organisers of this conference, especially my special representative, Dr. Kimmo Kiljunen, and his team.
